Candles and wax melts: two ways to scent your home

At Cut Candles you’ll find two ways to fill your home with fragrance. Our handmade soy-wax candles, which pair the warmth of a flame with a scent that releases slowly. And our wax melts, small tablets of scented wax with no flame — perfect if you’re after a safe, long-lasting way to keep your home smelling beautiful.

So what exactly are wax melts?

Wax melts are tablets of scented wax that melt with heat to release their fragrance. You place them in the top of a warmer — electric or tealight — and as they warm up, they carry the scent through the whole room with no need to light a wick. A single tablet can scent your space for several hours, and you can blend scents however you like.

How to care for your soy-wax candle

A few small habits make all the difference, helping your candle last longer and burn evenly:

• The first burn sets the tone. Let the wax melt all the way across the surface before putting it out (this usually takes 1–2 hours). That keeps a “tunnel” from forming in the center.
• Trim the wick. Before each use, trim it to about 5 mm. A short wick gives a steady, clean flame with no smoke.
• Keep sessions moderate. Don’t burn the candle for more than 3–4 hours at a time.
• Safety first. Never leave it burning unattended, keep it away from drafts, children, and pets, and place it on a heat-resistant surface.

How to use wax melts

Place a tablet in the top dish of your warmer. If it’s a tealight warmer, light a tealight underneath; if it’s electric, just plug it in. The wax will melt and release its scent. When the fragrance fades, let the wax cool, lift it out, and add a fresh tablet. No open flame, no smoky residue.
